SMSU women’s basketball hosts No.4 Northern State and MSU Moorhead this weekend

THIS WEEKEND - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team (1-13, 1-9 NSIC) will continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play at home versus No. 4 Northern State (15-1, 9-1 NSIC) on Friday at 6 p.m. before playing MSU Moorhead (7-7, 6-4 NSIC) on Saturday with a 4 p.m. tip off from the R/A Facility.

RADIO - The games this weekend will be broadcast on 105.1 FM KARL with Ryan Rohlik handling play-by-play and Anthony Rohlik serving as analyst.

ABOUT NORTHERN STATE - The Wolves, picked to finish first in the NSIC North and third overall, will enter the weekend ranked No. 4 in the latest WBCA poll with a 15-1 record, including 9-1 in the NSIC. NSU is on a five-game winning streak with its only loss coming from St. Cloud State on Dec. 13, 2014. Rachel Krogman leads the Wolves offense with 15.2 ppg while shooting 52 percent from the field. Krogman also leads the team with 10.8 rpg this season while Paige Waytashek leads the team shooting 37 percent from behind the arc. Curt Fredrickson is in his 35th season as head coach at Northern State with a 747-278 overall record.

ABOUT MSU MOORHEAD - The Dragons, picked to finished fourth in the NSIC North and seventh overall, will enter the weekend with a 7-7 overall record and 6-4 in the NSIC. MSUM's four conference losses are from St. Cloud State, U-Mary and two from Northern State . MSU Moorhead will play at Sioux Falls on Friday night before playing SMSU on Saturday afternoon. The Dragons are led by Meghan Roehrich and Heather Strese who are averaging 17 and 11 ppg, respectfully while Strese also leads the team in rebounds with 7 rpg. Roehrich and Drew Sannes are leading the Dragons shooting 43 percent from the field. Karla Nelson is in her 15th season as head coach at MSU Moorhead.

HEAD COACH ALLISON KRUGER - Allison Kruger is in her fifth season as head coach at Southwest Minnesota State University and has compiled a record of 22-100, including 16-82 in NSIC play. Prior to SMSU, Kruger spent two seasons as assistant coach at NCAA Division I University of South Dakota and four years at Wayne State.
