SMSU (2-14, 2-10 NSIC) finished shooting 33 percent from the floor as
Lauren Hedlund led the Mustangs with 15 points.
Emilee Duske contributed eight points while
Ellen Degler scored six and grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
MSUM (8-8, 7-5 NSIC) shot 48 percent from field as Meghan Roehrich cashed in 26 points to lead the Dragons. Drew Sannes and Morgan Banasik both scored 12 points while Heather Strese contributed 11. Banasik also grabbed a team-high 11 boards to earn her first double-double of the season.
The Mustangs started the game with the lead and led as many as six at 10-4 with 14:45 left in the half. The Dragons cut the lead down and tied it with 8:55 left in the first that was keyed from a Mallie Doucette 3-pointer at 12:59. MSUM would go on an 11-0 run to lead 24-14 with 5:06 left in the half.
MSUM pushed its lead to as many as 13 with 1:53 left in the half and would lead going into the break, 35-22.
After halftime, the Dragons held control and led by 25 with 11:24 after a three by Drew Sannes. MSUM led by as many as 33 with 6:25 left in the game and finished the out winning, 79-53.
Southwest Minnesota State will travel to Minnesota State for a 6 p.m. tipoff on Friday before playing Concordia-St. Paul at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
