SMSU wraps-up four-game road trip facing Augustana and Wayne State

    THIS WEEKEND - The Southwest Minnesota State University men's basketball team (12-12, 8-10 NSIC) plays its final regular season road games this weekend with a pair of games versus Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division teams. SMSU will first battle NSIC leading and No. 2 Augustana College (23-1, 17-1 NSIC) on Friday, Feb. 13, at the Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, S.D., starting at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 14, SMSU will face Wayne State College (5-19, 2-16 NSIC) with tip-off slated for 6 p.m. at Rice Auditorium in Wayne, Neb.
    Friday's game versus No. 2 Augustana will be SMSU's highest ranked opponent since playing No. 1 Winona State on March 4, 2007.
    SMSU begins the weekend tied for fifth place in the NSIC South Division standings and tied for ninth overall. Augustana is first in the NSIC South and first overall, while WSC is eighth in the NSIC South and 16th overall.

    RADIO - Both games will be broadcast on 105.1 FM KARL with Ryan Rohlik handling play-by-play and Anthony Rohlik serving as analyst.

    SERIES HISTORY - Southwest Minnesota State and Augustana meet for the 27th time in a series dating back to 1972-73. Augustana leads the series 15-11, including a 9-3 advantage in games played in Sioux Falls. Augustana won the earlier meeting this season on Jan. 3 in Marshall, 96-77. Augustana leads 6-5 in NSIC games since Augustana joined the conference in 2008-09. SMSU head coach Brad Bigler is 4-6 versus Augustana.
    Southwest Minnesota State and Wayne State meet for the 63rd time in a series dating back to 1969-70. WSC leads the series 36-26, including holding a 22-6 advantage in games played in Wayne. SMSU has won the last eight meetings in the series and 13 of the last 15 since Feb. 16, 2008. SMSU has won three straight games played in Wayne. WSC's last win in the series came on Feb. 4, 2011, in Wayne, 74-69 in overtime. SMSU won the earlier meeting this season in Marshall on Jan. 2, 83-65. SMSU head coach Brad Bigler is 10-2 versus WSC.
