THIS WEEKEND - The Southwest Minnesota State University men's basketball team (10-12, 6-10 NSIC) concludes regular season play versus teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division this weekend with a pair of road games in northern Minnesota. SMSU will first meet Bemidji State University (8-12, 4-12 NSIC) on Friday, Feb. 6, starting at 8 p.m. at the BSU Gymnasium, before taking on the University of Minnesota Crookston (6-14, 4-12 NSIC) on Saturday, Feb. 7, starting at 6 p.m. at UMC's Lysaker Gymnasium.
Both SMSU and BSU snapped eight-game losing streaks last Saturday night, with SMSU defeating Minnesota Duluth, 78-59, while BSU won at Upper Iowa, 88-85.
SMSU begins the weekend sixth in the NSIC South Division standings and tied for 10th overall. BSU and UMC are both tied for sixth in the NSIC North and tied for 12th overall.
RADIO - Both games will be broadcast on 105.1 FM KARL with Ryan Rohlik handling play-by-play and Anthony Rohlik serving as analyst.
SERIES HISTORY - Southwest Minnesota State and Bemidji State meet for the 91st time in a series that started during the 1968-69 season. SMSU leads the series 50-40, but has lost the last five games in the series, including three straight in Bemidji. SMSU's last victory over BSU came on Jan. 22, 2011 in Marshall, while its last win in Bemidji occurred on Jan. 31, 2009. SMSU is 19-24 all-time in games played in Bemidji.
