SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team suffered a 27-12 loss to Augustana University in its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener Friday night.
Augustana started the dual with a 3-1 sudden-victory decision at 125 over
Taylor Curtis to grab the early lead.
Antonio Meikel tied the dual up at 3-all following a 7-3 decision at 133 pounds, but Augustana took the next three bouts to lead 15-3 at the halfway mark.
Augsutana scored again at 165 pounds with a close 4-3 decision, but
Kyle Begin scored points at 174 pounds with a 9-4 decision.
The Vikings would take the next two bouts to put the dual out of reach and to lead 27-6 going into the final match.
Cole Wilson scored the last points of the dual with a pin at 6:54 to record his seventh consecutive win.
Southwest Minnesota State will host U-Mary tomorrow in the PE Gym starting at 3 p.m.
