GUNNISON, Colo.- Southwest Minnesota State (3-6, 0-1 NSIC) got off to a slow start losing its first three matches of the day but rebounded by defeating New Mexico Highlands University 27-15 to finish 1-3 on the day in the 27th Annual Tracy Borah Duals on Saturday in the Mountaineer Field House on the campus of Western State Colorado University.
Colorado Mesa defeated SMSUÂ 30-6 to begin the day as
Taylor Curtis and
Jackson Ryan were the only Mustangs to earn victories.
SMSU then fell 37-7 at the hands of Western State as
Jordan Biehn and
Cortez Arredondo picked up their first wins on the day.
Southwest Minnesota State could mange only one win from
Griffin Osing at 174 in its third match against California Baptist as CBU defeated SMSU 36-3.
Brock Buysse at 125 won by fall at 2:52 and
Cortez Arredondo at 149 won by fall at 1:54 as the first four Mustangs' weight classes earned victories in the final pairings of the day against New Mexico Highlands University.

Jordan Biehn, and
Trent Butcher also won to help the Mustangs defeat NMHU 27-15 to wrap up the Tracy Borah Duals.Â
Southwest Minnesota State will return to action on Saturday at the Nebraska-Kearney Duals where they will face Colorado State-Pueblo, Lindenwood (Mo.), Central Oklahoma, and Central Missouri.
