TUCSON, Ariz. – Nationally ranked St. Cloud State used a big third inning—highlighted by a grand slam—to go on and earn a 12-3 victory over Southwest Minnesota State in non-conference baseball at the Kino Sports Complex on Monday.

Holding a 3-1 lead in the third, the Huskies (2-3) pushed across six runs on six straight hits to blow the game open and hand the Mustangs their third loss in four games in Arizona. SMSU is now 1-3 overall on the season.

Following a three-run top of the second by SCSU, the Mustangs plated a run in the bottom of the second on a sac fly from
Josh Cook that scored
Tanner Picht.

Following SCSU's big top of the third, SMSU mounted a rally in the home half of the frame as Picht and Cook both delivered RBI doubles to make the score 9-3.

Connor Johnson (0-1) suffered the loss tossing 2 1/3 innings and allowing nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits.

SCSU out-hit SMSU 16-11 in the game.
