TUCSON, Ariz. -- Jayden Fleck belted a game-tying grand slam in the seventh inning and then Southwest Minnesota State pushed across three more runs in the eighth inning to rally past Mount Marty (S.D.) 9-6 on Saturday night at the Tucson Invitational.
SMSU picked up its third straight win and is now 5-4 on the season. Mount Marty had its six-game winning streak snapped and is now 12-6 overall. The Lancers beat Concordia-St. Paul on Friday.
Fleck had four home runs, three doubles and 19 RBIs in nine games this season.
SMSU pitchers combined to strikeout 18 Lancer batters in the game.
Jared Tschetter picked up the win for the Mustangs while
Alex Jorgensen struck out the final two batters to record the save.
Fleck finished the game with two hits and five RBIs, while
Shane Sellner and
Spencer Rudnik also both collected two hits.
Southwest Minnesota State closes out its spring trip on Sunday with a match-up versus the University of Jamestown (13-1) with first pitch at 11 a.m. CDT.
