INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA recently announced its 2017-18 attendance numbers and the Southwest Minnesota State University men's basketball program finished the season ranked 18th in average attendance among the more than 300 Division II basketball playing schools.

This past season, SMSU averaged 1,400 fans in its 14 games at the R/A Facility. A season-high 2,877 fans attended SMSU's "Hawaiian Night" game versus U-Mary on Feb. 3.

SMSU was among three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schools ranked among the top 20 nationally. As a conference, the NSIC ranked first in the nation in total attendance with 259,719 fans in 248 games/sessions and ranked third in average attendance with 1,049 per game.

SMSU finished the 2017-18 season with a 25-9 overall record, while winning the NSIC South Division championship for the second straight season with a 17-5 mark. SMSU also finished runner-up in the NSIC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Central Region Tournament for the second straight season before losing in the semifinals.
