MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team fell 22-9 to nationally-ranked Minnesota State on Saturday night in the Taylor Center, despite SMSU's early lead in the match.
SMSU drops to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the conference, while MSU advances to 6-1 overall and maintains its perfect record in the conference going 4-0.
Cole Hennen opened the match with his first conference victory of the season with a 7-3 decision victory over MSU's Dylan Butts.
Andrew Petersen carried on the momentum for a back-to-back bout victory with a4-3 decision win over Logan Linderbaum. Petersen is now 3-2 in the conference after dropping both bouts last weekend.
MSU would claim the next four bouts before
Cortez Arredondo took to the mat to pick up his fifth conference victory of the season with a 3-1 decision win over MSU's Daniel Close.
All bouts were decided by decisions besides MSU's major decision victory (11-3) over
Justin Haneke at 149.
