PREVIEWING THIS WEEKEND
•The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team (11-10, 8-8 NSIC) travels to MSU Moorhead (18-4, 14-2 NSIC) at 5:30 p.m. and Northern State (8-14, 5-11 NSIC) at 4 p.m. for weekend battle.

    SMSU QUICK HITS
•This weekend marked the 10th and 11th victories for SMSU this season. It's the first time SMSU has earned 11 victories in a season since the 2009-10 season when they finished 15-12 overall and 9-11 in the conference. 
•One more victory in conference play and SMSU ties the most conference wins since then.
•SMSU earned its first sweep at home since Jan. 21-22 in 2011 against Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State.
•Caleigh Rodning enters the weekend with 958 points. Rodning is on track to become the 20th Mustang to enter the 1,000-point club.
•SMSU's last four-game winning streak came during the 2009-10 season when the team won six straight.

    SERIES HISTORY VS. MSU MOORHEAD

    SERIES HISTORY VS. NORTHERN STATE
•SMSU trails the overall series 50-16 dating back to the 1969-70. 
•SMSU trails the overall record in Aberdeen, 28-4.

•Junior forward Caleigh Rodning is averaging a team-high 13.3 ppg and a team-high 7.0 rpg.
•Sophomore guard Meleah Reinhart is averaging a team second-best 12.6 ppg and leads for a team-high 32 3-pointers. 
•Sophomore guard Sadie Stelter ties for the lead in assists with 44. Stelter averages 10.2 ppg. 
•Sophomore guard Erin Baxter is averaging 9.7 ppg.
•SMSU is shooting 39 percent from the field, 32 percent from the 3-point line, 78 percent from the free throw line and is minus-0.4 rebound margin. 
•SMSU is averaging 71.4 points per game.

    SMSU HEAD COACH TOM WEBB
•Tom Webb is in his third season as head coach with a 19-53 record, including 15-45 in NSIC play. 
•SMSU finished 3-24 during his first season in 2016-17, before improving to 5-21 in 2017-18. 
•Webb is 106-176 overall in his 11th season as head coach at the Division II level after compiling a record of 91-123 in nine seasons as head coach at Cameron University (Okla.) 
•Webb recorded his 100th career win against Wisconsin-Parkside (91-83) on Nov. 16, 2018.

    SMSU SETS TEAM-RECORD 19 3-POINTERS 
•In SMSU's victory over William Jewell (Mo.) on Nov. 17,  the Mustangs set a single-game record of 19 3-pointers made and also a school record for most three-point attempts (34) in a game. 
•The previous record was 15 made against Minnesota-Morris on Dec. 19, 2008.
•SMSU made 11 3-pointers in the first half, eight of which came in the second quarter. 

     THREE CONSECUTIVE WINS
•SMSU's three-game winning streak earlier this season was the program's first since the 2011-12 season. 
•SMSU earned its first back-to-back wins since the 2015-16 season after defeating Wisconsin-Parkside and William Jewell (Mo.) at the Ramada Classic on Nov. 16-17.
•SMSU earned another three-game winning streak with a Victory over BSU on Feb. 2. 

    ELEVEN SEASON VICTORIES
•The sweep last weekend marked the 10th and 11th victory this season for the Mustangs, the first time SMSU earned 11 victories since the 2009-10 season. 

    90-POINT GAMES
•The Mustangs scored 90 of more points in three straight victories earlier this season.
•The last time SMSU scored 90 or more points in three consecutive games was in November 2008 with a 111-75 victory over Chadron State (Neb.), 107-45 victory over Mayville State (ND), and a 93-75 victory over Mount Mercy (Iowa).

    SCOUTING MSU MOORHEAD    
•MSU Moorhead is 18-4 overall and14-2 in NSIC play and leads the North Division and overall just one game ahead of Minnesota Duluth.
•MSUM split last weekend with a loss to Minnesota State and a victory in overtime to Concordia-St. Paul. 
•Sophomore guard Kiley Borowicz leads the team in scoring with 14.7 ppg.  
•Junior forward Megan Hintz averages a team-high 10.1 rpg. This past weekend, Hintz had her ninth double-double of the season. 
•Senior guard Jacky Volkert averages a team-best 4.3 apg. 
•Minnesota Crookston is shooting 40 percent from the field and 30 percent from the 3-point line.
•MSUM is recording a plus-8.9 rebounding margin and a plus-9.1 scoring margin. 
•Head coach, Karla Nelson, is in her 19th season and has a 43-192 overall record. 

    SCOUTING NORTHERN STATE    
•Northern State is 8-14 overall and 5-11 in the NSIC.
•NSU got swept last weekend to continue a six-game losing streak. 
•NSU's last wins game in a home-sweep over BSU and UMC.
•Lexi Wadsworth leads the team in scoring with 10.0 ppg. 
•Brianna Kusler averages 10.1 rpg for a team-high and a 2.3 apg.
•NSU is shooting 38 percent from the field, 31 percent from the 3-point range, 73 percent from the free throw line and is  plus-7.8 in rebound margin. 
•NSU is averaging 57.4 points per game, while opponents are averaging 60.2 points per game.
•Head coach, Paula Krueger, is in her first season as head coach. Krueger spent nine seasons at Colorado Mines, where she accumulated a 133-125 overall record.



    RODNING EARNS NSIC WEEKLY AWARD
•Junior forward Caleigh Rodning was named the NSIC South Division Player of the Week on Nov. 19. 
•It's the first time Rodning has received this award and is 
the first Mustang to earn the honor under head coach Tom Webb.  
•In two SMSU victories, Rodning recorded back-to-back double-doubles with 34 points and 16 rebounds against Wisconsin-Parkside, followed by 17 points and 10 rebounds against William Jewell.
•Rodning shot 59 percent from the field (16 of 27), 67 percent from beyond the arc (6 of 9), and went 13-15 from the free throw line throughout the weekend. 

    NCAA STATISTICAL RANKINGS 
•The latest NCAA statistics (through Feb. 4) are located on page 19.
•Caleigh Rodning ranks 25th in free throw pct. and 69th in free throws made.
•Meleah Reinhart 57th in free-throw percentage.

    RODNING ALL-NSIC IN 2017-18
•Caleigh Rodning was the lone Mustang to earn All-NSIC honors last season as she was named second team. 

    SMSU ALL-TIME IN THE NSIC 
•The 2018-19 campaign marks the 40th season SMSU has competed in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. 
•SMSU has an all-time record of 235-377 in conference games and have won four regular season championships (1979-80, 1980-81, 2000-01, 2001-02) and one NSIC Tournament championship (2002).
