PITTSBURG, Kan. – Southwest Minnesota State University sophomore Rebecca Manteuffel finished in 17th place in the weight throw at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships held at the Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus Pittsburg State University.

Manteuffel, who entered the championship seeded 14th out of 17 competitors, fouled on her first throw, then finished with a mark of 16.34 meters on her second toss. Her third and final throw landed just outside the sector as she failed to advance to the nine-person finals.

Manteuffel is the first female SMSU track & field athlete to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships in program history. She qualified for this season's NCAA Indoor Championships with a school record toss of 18.41 meters at the South Dakota State Last Chance Meet on Feb. 15.

Bobbie Goodwin from Grand Valley State won the weight throw with a toss of 20.75 meters.
