BEMIDJI, Minn. – After trailing by one point, Southwest Minnesota State (11-10, 6-10 NSIC) used a big second half to earn a 69-58 victory over Bemidji State (7-13, 4-12 NSIC) on Saturday afternoon in the BSU Gymnasium.Â

The Mustangs shot 38 percent (23-of-61) from the field and 19 percent (4-of-21) from the 3-point line, while the Beavers scored 43 percent shooting (21-of-49) from the field and 15 percent (2-of-13) shooting from beyond the arc.Â

The Mustangs were led by the combined efforts of
Meleah Reinhart, who finished with 15,
Jenna Borchers, who finished with 14,
Sadie Stelter, who ended with 13, and
Madison Gehloff, who ended with 11.
Abuk Akoi grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.Â

The Mustangs had an 18-14 lead in the first, but the Beavers used a 21-point second quarter to rally in the final two seconds of the first half to go up 35-34 lead heading into halftime.Â

The third quarter opened with a back-and-forth battle until five minutes remaining when a 3-pointer from Brochers would give the Mustangs a 42-39 lead.Â

The Mustangs would hold on to this lead to earn the 69-58 victory.Â

Southwest Minnesota State returns home next weekend for the annual Hawaiian night weekend, facing MSU Moorhead and Northern State.Â
