MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State softball program will host a four-week clinic beginning on Sunday, Oct. 24 for a variation of ages and skill levels. The clinic is distinguished by grade level, with a fourth to seventh grade basic level camp and eighth to 12th grade advanced camp. Each camp is inclusive of two sessions covering pitching/catching and hitting/fielding. Registration can be found

Campers for the fourth to seventh grade clinic will receive instruction on the basic skills needed to pitch and catch over the 4-week camp. Session II will consist of fundamental skills in the area of hitting and fielding. The goal of this camp is for the camper to see improvement in their skills over the course of the four sessions. All four-week campers will receive a camp t-shirt.
The eighth to 12th grade advanced level will be begin with session I and will consist of advanced skills in the area of pitching and catching by SMSU staff and players. Athletes will receive instruction on pitching spins, speed, and power. Catchers will work on framing, blocking, and positioning. Session II will consist of learning the skills to becoming an all-around hitter working on extension, weight transfer, bunting and consistent powerful swings. The goal of this camp is for the athlete to see improvement in their skills over the course of the four sessions. All four-week athletes will receive a camp t-shirt.
   
The fourth to eighth grade level costs $75 a session or $125 for both sessions, while the eighth to 12
th grade camp costs $125 a session or $200 for both.
All registration forms are due at check-in at the first session on Sunday, Oct. 28.
 The sessions take place on Sundays Oct. 24, Oct. 31, Nov. 7, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. for the basic level camp and 5 p.m. for the advance level camp.
Check-in begins 20 minutes prior to the first session. All participants 
MUST fill out the consent and medical information section of the registration form. Please bring softball equipment such as: glove, tennis shoes, bat, helmet, catcher's gear, etc. Pitchers will also be required to bring their own catchers, with adults preferred.
