MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's swimming & diving team opened its home schedule on Thursday suffering a 216-82 loss to two-time defending NSIC champion Minnesota State University inside the Don Palm Natatorium.
SMSU had several high place winners on the night with three first-place finishes.
Maija Geier captured two individual titles for the Mustangs, winning the 50-yard freestyle at 25.36 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.52.
Grace Busch also earned a first-place time for SMSU touching the wall at 5:29.43 to win the 500-yard freestyle with teammate
MacKenzie Kallevig finishing second at 5:29.91.
Grace also picked up a fourth-place time of 11:30.47 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Kallevig recorded a time of 2:02.18 to place second in the 200-yard freestyle.

Heather Arlen and Geier had a strong race finishing second with a time of 1:54.89, while the 200-yard freestyle relay of Kallevig, Busch,
Addi Schroeder and Geier also earned a second-place time of 1:41.30.
Sholl earned a second-place time of 1:10.54 in the 100-yard backstroke and was third in the 50-yard breaststroke at 31.86.
Arlen closed at 1:03.69 in the 100-yard butterfly to finish in second place.
Bohnert finished fifth in the 50-yard backstroke at 29.49 with teammate
Juliana Villa right behind in sixth at 29.71. Villa would also finish fifth in the 100-yard freestyle at 56.57.
Addi Schroeder was SMSU's highest finisher in the 100-yard IM finishing sixth out of 27 with a time of 1:04.31.
Sarah McDonald recorded a score of 201.05 to finish fifth in the 3-meter diving and was seventh in 1-meter diving at 189.30.
SMSU, now 6-3 in duals this season, returns to action on Nov. 11 at MSU Moorhead.
