WAYNE, Neb. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team returned to action on Monday shooting a 42-over-par 330 in the first round of the two-day Wayne State Wildcat Classic. The 36-hole tournament is begin played at the par-72 Wayne Country Club.
SMSU, playing in its first tournament since March 10, is currently in seventh place in the 10-team tournament. Nebraska-Kearney and Concordia-St. Paul is tied atop the standings with an 18-over 306. Anna Tollette is the individual leader with an even-par 72.
Danielle Podoll led the Mustangs with an 8-over 80 and is currently tied for 25
th in the 71-player field. Podoll finished the round with a pair of birdies and seven pars.
Sally Gallagher had nine pars on Monday and is tied for 30
th with a 9-over 81.
Jacqueline Gossen shot a 12-over 84 and is tied for 39
th,
Ashley Trongard carded a 13-over 85 and tied for 43
rd, while
Courtni Frank is tied for 47
th following a 14-over 86.
Three Mustangs played as individuals with
Lauryn Driscoll shooting a 13-over 85 (T43),
Sydney Noel shot a 15-over 87 (T51), while
Anneke Weg finished at 20-over 92 (T62).
The final round begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
