LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf closed its spring trip placing 10
th at the 10-team SMSU Classic played at the par 70 Wigwam Resort Blue Course on Monday.
SMSU finished the two-round event with a score of 123-over-par 683. The Mustangs shot a final round score of 67-over 347 on Tuesday.
Nebraska-Kearney and Illinois Wesleyan both finished with a score of 43-over 603, but Illinois Wesleyan earned the team title via tiebreaker, which included all five player scores for the tournament.
Gigi Zera from Illinois Wesleyan earned medalist honors with a score of 5-over 145 following rounds of 70 and 75.
Berkley Steffen led the Mustangs on Tuesday with a team-low 12-over 82, recording seven pars. She finished 38
th in the 70-player field with a score of 23-over 163.
Meghan Pundsack and
Allie Nedved both carded scores of 17-over 87 on Tuesday with Pundsack closing with six pars, while Nedved finishing with nine pars. Pundsack finished tied for 43
rd overall at 27-over 167 with Nedved placing tied for 46
th at 30-over 170.
Carly Hamman had eight pars on Tuesday on her way to shooting 21-over 91 and finishing tied for 65
th at 43-over 183.
Roni Hook, playing as an individual, and
Natalie Appel both tied for 67
th overall at 45-over 185.
SMSU will continue its spring season on April 6-7 at the Augustana Invitational at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D.
