LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team closed the 10-team SMSU Challenge in ninth place recording a two-round score of 129-over-par 689, played at the par-70 Wigwam Resort Blue Course.
SMSU shot a final round 64-over 344 on Friday, following a 65-over-par 345 during Thursday's first round.
Colorado Mesa won the team championship with a 55-over 615. Payton Panzeri from Colorado Mesa earned medalist honors with a 5-over 145.
Meghan Pundsack shot a 10-over 80 on Friday to lead the Mustangs and finished tied for 18
th overall at 22-over 162. Pundsack had one birdie and nine pars during the final round.
Allie Nedved shot a 13-over 83 with a birdie six pars on Friday and finished tied for 41
st with a two-round score of 34-over 174.
Berkley Steffen finished tied for 50
th overall at 39-over 179, following a score of 19-over 89 on Friday with five pars.
Carly Hamman placed 48
th with a 37-over 177, after a Friday round of 25-over 95, while
Natalie Appel shot a 22-over 92 on Friday to finish 55
th at 47-over 187.
Roni Hook played as an individual and finished 59
th at 60-over 200.
SMSU will host one more tournament during its spring trip with the SMSU Classic on Monday and Tuesday at Wigwam Resort Blue Course.
