MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's swimming & diving team will compete at home for the first time this season on Friday and Saturday inside the Don Palm Natatorium.
The program will host the Brown & Gold Intrasquad Dual on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. before facing the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
Saturday's dual versus USF is scheduled to have 11 races along with 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
SMSU opened the season on Sept. 22 winning the four-team Northern State Relay meet with 106 points. The Mustangs had two relays earn first place finishes during the opening meet. The 3x100-yard breaststroke team of
Shannon Bailey,
Ella Swanson and
Carla Nevi captured first place with a time of 3:44.53, while the 3x500-yard freestyle squad of Nevi,
Ellie Wilber and
Quincie Klein recorded a time of 16:55.29 to earn first place.
The 3x100-yard backstroke relay team of Nevi,
Heather Arlen and
Natalie Bohnert placed second with a time of 3:06.51 with the 800-yard freestyle team of Wilber, Klein,
Maija Geier and Bohnert also placing second place with a time of 8:30.24. The 400-yard freestyle relay of
Rebeca Temotio, Arlen, Klein and Geier closed the meet with a second-place finish at 3:49.05 to secure the team title.
