MARSHALL, Minn. - A total of five members of the Southwest Minnesota State University football team earned spots on the 2023 CSC Academic All-District team announced on Tuesday.
Named to the All-District team include, sophomore
Logan Booth, sophomore
Gideon Ervasti, senior
Bradley Gould, sophomore
Josiah Hedensten and senior
Dustin Pampel.
The 2023 Academic All-District® football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Booth, a linebacker from Ames, Neb., appeared in all 11 games this season for the Mustangs, registering 11 tackles and one blocked kick on the season. Booth is pursuing a degree in health education.
Ervasti, a linebacker from Verndale, Minn., appeared in all 11 games for the Mustangs, Ervasti was second on the team in both tackles (65) and tackles for loss (7.5). Ervasti is a business management major.
Gould, an offensive lineman from Las Vegas, Nev., appeared in all 11 games for the Mustangs and has been a four-year starter for the Mustangs and is a management major.
Hedensten, a linebacker from Faribault, Minn., appeared in all 11 games this season for the Mustangs, leading the team in solo (49), assisted (39) and total tackles (88). Hedensten is a justice administration major.
Pampel, a tight end from Johnson Creek, Wis., appeared in all 11 games this season for the Mustangs, is a six-year member of the Mustangs and is a graduate with a degree in business and is currently pursuing his MBA at SMSU.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
