After a three-pointer to put WSU up 9-6 the Mustangs picked up the offense, going on a 7-2 run for their first lead of the game, 13-11, with 2:06 left. The Warriors went on to net one more bucket, tying the score at 13-13 into the second quarter.

The Mustangs grabbed their first two-possession lead of the game with 5:54 in the first half, when Stoltzman finished a pass from Kenzie Jones to take a 22-17 lead. That lead would grow to double digits, as SMSU went on to take a 32-22 lead into the half.

That lead got up to 14 with 2:09 left in the third quarter when Borchers hit a three, her first points of the game, to go ahead 48-34.
