ST. PETER, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's tennis team closed its weekend at the Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College on Sunday morning suffering a 4-0 loss to UMary in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
SMSU, which defeated MSU Moorhead on Saturday, drops to 2-4 in league matches and is now 3-12 overall.
The Marauders (6-5, 5-2 NSIC) won the doubles point with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 and 6-3 win at No. 3, with the No. 1 match not finished.
In singles play, UMary won in straight sets at No. 2, 3 and 4 to secure the team victory. No. 1, 5 and 6 singles were all unfinished.
SMSU continues NSIC play on Friday in Rogers, Minn., with a match versus Minnesota Duluth, while on Saturday the Mustangs face St. Cloud State in Rogers.
