THE LOOK AHEAD
• The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team (12-6, 10-2 NSIC), currently tied for second in the NSIC standings, returns to Marshall for a four-game home stand with games this week against UMary (12-8, 8-4 NSIC) and Northern State (14-4, 10-2 NSIC) for Tropical Weekend.
• The Mustangs will host Minnesota State and Minnesota Duluth Feb. 2-3 before playing their next four games on the road.
• SMSU enters the weekend having won 10 straight games and will be looking for its first 11-game winning streak since the 2001-02 season.

UMARY SERIES HISTORY
• SMSU and UMary will meet for the 21st time with the Marauders leading 13-7 in a series that began in 2006-07.
• SMSU fell to UMary last season 89-74, but has won three of the five previous meetings with the Marauders.
• The Mustangs are 4-6 all-time in games played in Marshall, yet have defeated the Marauders in all three previous meetings in the R/A Facility.

NORTHERN STATE SERIES HISTORY
• SMSU and NSU will meet for the 71st time with the Wolves leading 53-17 in a series that began in 1969-70.
• Northern State defeated SMSU last season in Marshall 82-62, and has defeated the Mustangs in four of the five previous meetings.
• The Mustangs are 12-22 all-time in games played in Marshall and last claimed victory over NSU in the R/A Facility on Feb. 8, 2020.
• SMSU head coach Tom Webb is 1-5 all-time versus NSU.

SMSU HEAD COACH TOM WEBB
• Tom Webb is in his eighth season as head coach at SMSU with an 89-108 record, including 67-87 in NSIC play.
• Webb is 180-231 overall in his 15th season as head coach at the Division II level after compiling a record of 91-123 in eight seasons (2008-16) as head coach at Cameron University (Okla.).
• In 2022-23, SMSU advanced to the NSIC semifinals for the fourth time in program history and first time since 2003.
• The team finished with 19 victories a season ago, tying for fifth most in program history, and highest total since 2004-05.
• SMSU also recorded a top three finish in the NSIC South last season, best in the division era, while earning a top four finish in the NSIC regular season standings for the first time since 2004-05.

MUSTANG TIP-OFF TIDBITS
• SMSU secured the program's first 10-game win streak since winning 11 of the final 12 games of the 2001-02 campaign, after defeating Minnesota Crookston in NSIC play this past weekend. The Mustangs last 11-game winning streak came in the 2001-02 season.
• SMSU defeated Minnesota Crookston in NSIC women's college basketball on Saturday afternoon 99-62, the most points in an NSIC game for the Mustangs since the 2000-01 season..
• For the first time this season, five Mustangs scored in double-figures with Madison Gehloff leading the way with 18 points on 7 of 8 shooting with five rebounds. Sam Wall added 17 points on 7 of 16 shooting with three makes from deep, while Hannah Parsley posted a season-high 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting with a team-high two blocks, two steals, and five rebounds.
• Peyton Blandin and Bri Stoltzman went a combined 8 of 16 from the field in adding 23 points for the Mustangs. Blandin knocked down a team-high four 3-pointers while Stoltzman dished a team-high seven assists.
• SMSU continued its recent hot-shooting finishing the game shooting 54 percent (37 of 69) from the field including 11 makes  from 3-point land.
• SMSU has shot 50 percent or higher six times this season.
• SMSU dished out a season-high 22 assists in victories over Martin Luther and Minot State.
• Sam Wall became the 24th player in team history to reach 1,000 career points on Jan. 12 and ranks second in team history with 210 3-pointers.
• Stoltzman ranks fourth in team history in field goal pct. (50.9, 303 of 595).
• In NSIC games only, Stoltzman ranks fourth in the league in scoring (17.4), ninth in field goal pct. (44.6), 11th in free throw pct. (70.0), 11th in rebounding (6.4), and fourth in assists (3.4).
•  Wall leads the NSIC in 3-point field goals per game (2.8) and 3-point field goal pct. (37.9), and is tied for 11th amongst active players across Division II in career 3-pointers made.
 
MUSTANGS BY THE NUMBERS
• For the season, SMSU has three players averaging double figures in scoring, and five averaging over nine points per game. Junior Bri Stoltzman leads the way at 18.0 ppg while leading the team in both rebounding at 6.7 per game and assists with 62.
• Senior Sam Wall is averaging 13.2 ppg and shooting 89 percent from the foul line. She leads the team with 47 3-pointers.
• Senior Madison Gehloff is scoring 10.2 ppg and is second on the team with 38 free throws made.
• Junior Peyton Blandin ranks second on the team with 37 3-pointers and is averaging 9.2 ppg with senior Hannah Parsley averaging 9.0 ppg, while snatching a team-second 30 steals.
• SMSU is shooting 44 percent from the field, 36 percent from 3-point range, 76 percent from the free throw line and is plus-3.2 in rebound margin. The Mustangs are averaging 77 points per game, while opponents are averaging 66 ppg.
 
SMSU IN THE NCAA STATS  
• In the latest Division II national statistics (Jan. 23), SMSU ranks sixth in 3-pointers per game (9.6), sixth in 3-point field goals attempts (26.9), 17th in scoring offense (76.6), 39th in free throw pct. (75.8) and 29th in turnovers per game (13.8).
• Bri Stoltzman ranks 18th in field goals made (117), 37th in scoring (18.0) and 74th in free throws made (65).
• Sam Wall ranks 17th in 3-point field goals made (47) and 20th in 3-point field goal attempts (126).

STONE COLD STOLTZMAN
• Bri Stoltzman recorded a career-high 36 points on 13 of 23 shooting in a loss to Northwest Missouri State on Nov. 10. She recorded her second 30-point game of her career with 31 points on 9 of 18 shooting in the win over No. 19 Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 9.
• Stoltzman is leading the team in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals and free throws made.
 
KEEP THE WALL ROLLING
• Sam Wall set the program record for 3-pointers made in a single-season last season with 77.
• Wall ranks second all-time in 3-pointers made in program history with 210 in 116 games. She is 41 away from moving into first all-time and passing Jenna Borchers (2018-23).
• She also ranks fifth in free throw percentage at .825 (146 of 177) and is fifth in 3-point field goal percentage at .384 (210 of 547).
 
PEYTON BLANDIN NOTES
• Has started every game and is averaging 9.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg, and is second on the team in 3-pointers with 37.
• Scored a career-high 17 points vs. Northwest Missouri State (11/10/23).
