ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team finished the Central Region Crossover with a 72-63 victory over the Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Saturday afternoon at Halenbeck Hall, on the campus of St. Cloud State University.
SMSU improves to 2-0 to start the year, while Central Oklahoma drops 0-2.
True freshman
Nicole Maenke led the Mustang offense with 22 points on 6 of 7 shooting with five 3-pointers and three rebounds.
Bri Stoltzman followed Maenke with 17 points on 7 of 11 shooting while pulling down five rebounds and a pair of assists.
Audrey Swanson added 12 points on 4 of 9 shooting and recorded five rebounds.
Audrey Swanson recorded 16 points on 5 of 10 shooting and added a career-high 16 rebounds for the first double-double of her career.
Peyton Blandin rounded out the top Mustang scorers with 12 points, while
Natalie Nielsen supported on the glass with 11 rebounds.
The Mustangs finished the game shooting 47 percent (26 of 55) from the field including 44 percent (8 of 18) from downtown and 59 percent (13 of 22) from the free throw line.
The Bronchos were led by Korie Allensworth's 20 points on 9 of 14 shooting and grabbed 5 rebounds. The Broncos closed the game shooting 35 percent (23 of 65) from the field, including 3 of 13 on 3-pointers.
