THIS WEEKEND
•The Southwest Minnesota State University men's basketball team (14-10, 11-7 NSIC), currently fifth-place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings, has its final two regular season road games this weekend facing St. Cloud State University (11-13, 7-11 NSIC) on Friday night and Bemidji State University (12-12, 8-10 NSIC) on Saturday evening. SMSU will close the regular season with two home games on Feb. 23-24.
•SMSU and SCSU, which is 11th in the league standings, meet on Friday inside Halenbeck Hall with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. SMSU defeated SCSU earlier this season in Marshall, 86-75, on Jan. 6.
•On Saturday, SMSU closes the weekend with a 5:30 p.m. match-up versus BSU inside the BSU Gymnasium. The Beavers begin the weekend tied for ninth in the NSIC standings. SMSU defeated BSU, 82-65, in Marshall on Jan. 5. BSU senior forward, Dalton Albrecht was named the D2CIDA Division II National Player of the Week on Monday after he averaged 28.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and shot 74.2 percent from the field in victories over Northern State and Minnesota Crookston.
•SMSU begins the weekend tied for first in the NSIC (league games only) in field goal pct. (48.8).
•As of Feb. 13, SMSU, which has played six opponents ranked among the top 25 nationally, including three teams ranked No. 1, has the fifth toughest schedule in Division II with its opponents combining for a winning pct. of .620.

Brad Bigler, the all-time wins leader in program history, is in his 15th season as head coach and has an overall record of 235-187, including 161-146 in NSIC play.
•The 2012-13 and 2016-17 NSIC Coach of the Year, Bigler has led SMSU to eight winning seasons, including one 28-win season, one 25-win season and two 19-win seasons.

MUSTANG TIP-OFF TIDBITS
•SMSU split two road games last weekend losing to No. 22 Minnesota Duluth, 70-62, before rebounding for an 87-64 victory over Concordia-St. Paul. SMSU committed a season-high 18 turnovers in the loss to UMD.
Jake Phipps led the Mustangs with 15 points and nine rebounds in the loss, while in the victory over CSP,
Cliff Cofield poured in a game-high 23 points with nine field goals.
•SMSU connected on a season-high 34 field goals in the win over CSP, while the 87 points scored tied for its second highest total this season.
•Junior
Dunwa Omot became the 28th player in team history to reach 1,000 career points during SMSU's setback to UMD last Friday. He has scored 1,012 points in 80 games and ranks 13th in team history with 150 3-point field goals.
•Omot was named the NSIC Player of the Week on Jan. 8 after averaging 21.5 points, while shooting 64 percent (14 of 22) from the field, including 8 of 14 from 3-point range in victories over Bemidji State and St. Cloud State.

Aeron Stevens set the school freshman record for free throws made and attempted in a single-season during the weekend of Feb. 9-10. Stevens has made 98 of 134 from the foul line this season. Bob Throngard held the previous record of 97 free throws made and 129 attempted during the program's first season in 1967-68.
•SMSU has two victories over Top 12 teams this season, including defeating No. 1 ranked Northwest Missouri State on Nov. 11. It was the program's first-ever over a No. 1 ranked team. SMSU also defeated No. 12 Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 9.

Cliff Cofield became the 27th player in team history to reach 1,000 career points in the win over SCSU on Jan. 6. Cofield's career-high 31 points with a career-high 10 field goals and a career-high five 3-pointers in a win over Truman State on Nov. 26 was the most points scored by a Mustang player since Kenny Byers scored 33 at Minnesota Crookston on Jan. 31, 2020.
•SMSU's plus-28 rebound margin versus UMary on Jan. 26 was the program's largest margin since holding a plus-25 advantage versus Minnesota Crookston on Feb. 6, 2016.
