HUDSON, Wis. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team shot an opening round 44-over 328 and is currently in fourth place at the 10-team Fall Brawl co-hosted by Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State and played at the par-71 Troy Burne Golf Club.
The University of Sioux Falls sits in first place at 24-over 308, followed by Winona State at 317 and Wayne State at 325. SMSU holds a three-stroke advantage over Minnesota State and four strokes over Minot State. Ellie Behring from Winona State is the individual leader following a 3-over 74.
SMSU has a pair of players,
Berkley Steffen and
Isabella Jacobs, currently in the top 15 with both shooting a 10-over 81 to sit in a tie for 14
th place in the 67-player field. Steffen carded one birdie and eight pars during the round, while Jacobs notched one birdie and nine pars.
Danielle Podoll and
Mallory Uselman are both tied for 26
th at 12-over 83 with Podoll recording 11 pars, while Uselman finished with nine pars.
Ellie Krueger rounded out SMSU's team play shooting a 22-over 93 and is 56
th.
SMSU had four players compete as individuals with
Meghan Pundsack leading the way shooting a 20-over 91.
Natalie Appel shot a 21-over 92,
Allie Nedved finished at 112, while
Roni Hook closed at 116.
Tuesday's final round begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
