MARSHALL, Minn. – The first round of the Southwest Minnesota State EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite is complete with Augustana leading the 11-team event with a 9-over-par 297 played at the par 72 Marshall Golf Club on Saturday. The two-round event concludes on Sunday with a shotgun start beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Augustana holds a four-shot lead over Northwest Missouri State and a five-shot advantage over Minneosta State. Aly Blomberg, playing as an individual for Minnesota State, is the first round leader after carding a 1-under 71.
SMSU sits in eighth place following a round of 42-over 330.
Meghan Pundsack, playing as an individual for SMSU, shot the lowest round among Mustang players with a career-low 3-over 75 and is tied for 13
th among 78 players. She had one birdie and 13 pars on the day.
Danielle Podoll recorded a team-low 6-over 78 and is tied for 21
st. Podoll racked up five birdies and six pars on the day.
Berkley Steffen is tied for 41
st after a 10-over 82 with two birdies and seven pars.
Mallory Uselman had a birdie and seven pars on her way to an 11-over 83 and is tied for 48
th.
Ellie Krueger finished with a score of 15-over 87 with seven pars, while
Isabella Jacobs rounded out SMSU's team play with a 16-over 88, which included six pars.
