BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team closed its first tournament of the 2024-25 season on Wednesday shooting a 29-over-par 317 for a two-round total of 71-over 656 to finish in 16^th place at the 17-team Central Region Fall Preview tournament played at the Adams Pointe Golf Club.
 
The strong tournament field featured five teams that quailed for the NCAA tournament last spring. Augustana won the team title at 16-over 592, while Felisa Sajulga from Henderson State captured medalist honors at even-par 144.
 
Danielle Podoll led the Mustangs on Wednesday with a career-low round of 3-over 75 to finish tied for 57^th overall in the 90-player field with a 15-over 159. Podoll recorded a pair of birdies and 11 pars on Wednesday.
 
Mallory Uselman tied for 62^nd overall with a 16-over 160. She recorded a score of 6-over 78 on Wednesday with two birdies and 10 pars. Isabella Jacobs shot a 9-over 81 on Wednesday with two birdies and eight pars to finish the two-day event in a tie for 75^th place with a 19-over 163. Berkley Steffen tied for 82^nd at 21-over 165, following Wednesday's round of 11-over 83 with two birdies and seven pars. Ellie Krueger rounded out SMSU's team play with six pars on Wednesday for a 13-over 85 to finish tied for 85^th at 28-over 172.  
 
SMSU will continue play next Monday and Tuesday competing at the Battle at Bayside Tournament at Bayside Golf Club in Brule, Neb.
