MARSHALL, Minn.- The Southwest Minnesota State University women's swimming & diving team earned 145-139 victory over Sioux Falls on Saturday afternoon.
SMSU improves to 2-5 overall while USF drops to 2-4 overall. The dual featured 16 events, which included 3-meter and 1-meter diving.
Carla Nevi earned a pair of first place finishes for the Mustangs in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.60 and in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.68.
Maija Geier earned a pair of first place finishes in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 27.75 and in the 100-yard freestyle at 54.22.
Maddy Storm earned a first-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 30.18 and a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:06.94.
Maggie Johnson finished in first place in the 50-yard butterfly (27.08) and second place in the 50-yard freestyle (25.55).
Lexi Weems swam a time of 24.92 in the 50-yard freestyle to earn first place for the Mustangs.
Bre Sanneman grabbed a first-place finish in the 1-mtr diving with a final score of 183.25.

Maggie Johnson earned a crucial first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:38.71 to help the Mustangs beat the Cougars for the first time ever in program history with a final team score of 145-139.
SMSU returns to the pool next weekend hosting Northern State, Iowa Lakes Community College, and Augustana for a Quad Dual on Friday January 24, which is set to begin at 5 p.m.
