SMSU volleyball to host annual “Red Out” match this Friday

MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State volleyball program will host the 14th annual "Red Out", presented by Avera, this Friday night against Minnesota Duluth starting at 6 p.m. inside the PE Gym.

All fans in attendance are encouraged to wear red in support for heart disease awareness. The first 400 fans through the gates will receive a free "Red Out" t-shirt.

"Red Out" began when former SMSU head coach Terry Culhane, who suffered a heart attack in 2010, felt that his experience offered a unique opportunity for his volleyball program to help educate the public about this deadly disease.

All donations during the match will be given to the Avera Heart Hospital. Individuals can also donate at donate.averafoundation.org/campaign/736668/donate

Southwest Minnesota State, ranked No. 18 in this week's Top 25 poll, is 15-6 overall, 8-6 NSIC, while UMD is 17-4 overall, 10-4 NSIC, and ranked 21.

Following Friday's match, SMSU will host Bemidji State with first serve at 2 p.m.
