LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf sits in seventh place with a score of 65-over-par 345 following round one of the 12-team SMSU Challenge played at the par-70 Wigwam Resort Blue Course on Thursday afternoon.
Rockhurst (Mo.) sits atop the tournament with a 33-over 313, holding an 11-shot lead over Saint Martin's (Wash.). Izabella Pesicka from MSU Denver and Gia Vargas from MSU-Billings both shot rounds of 6-over 76 to sit atop the leaderboard in the 76-player field.
Danielle Podoll shot SMSU's low round on Thursday carding a 13-over 83, recording eight pars and is currently in 20
th place.
Berkley Steffen had a birdie and six pars on the day to sit in 22
nd place at 14-over 84.
Mallory Uselman is in 31
st place after carding a 17-over 87 with six pars.
Meghan Pundsack had one birdie and three pars on her way to shooting a 21-over 91, while
Isabella Jacobs closed out SMSU's team play with a 30-over 100.
Allie Nedved had the lowest score among SMSU's individual players with a 19-over 89, finishing the day with one birdie and five pars.
The final round begins on Friday with tee times starting at 11:16 a.m. CDT.
