LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf shot a final round 53-over-par 333 on Friday to finish at 118-over 678 and earn seventh place at the 36-hole, 12-team SMSU Challenge played at the par-70 Wigwam Resort Blue Course.
Saint Martin's (Wash.) rallied from 11 strokes down after round one to win the team title with a 75-over 635, three strokes ahead of Rockhurst (Mo). Gia Vargas from MSU-Billings won the individual championship in the 76-player field with a 9-over 149.
Mallory Uselman shot a two-round score of 28-over 168 to pace the Mustangs in the tournament with a 24
th place finish. Uselman carded an 11-over 81 on Friday with two birdies and six pars.
Berkley Steffen tied for 30
th with a 32-over 172, after shooting an 18-over 88 on Friday with one birdie and four pars.
Meghan Pundsack also shot 32-over 172, following a solid score of 11-over 81 in the final round with a birdie and nine pars.
Danielle Podoll shot a 21-over 93 on Friday and closed in 38
th place at 34-over 174.
Isabella Jacobs rebounded on Friday to shot a 13-over 83 and finished in 51
st place at 43-over 183.
Allie Nedved, playing the tournament as an individual, placed 46
th with a score of 39-over 179.
Ellie Krueger tied for 54
th at 45-over 185,
Roni Hook tied for 56
th at 46-over 186, while
Natalie Appel finished tied for 60
th at 49-over 189.
SMSU concludes its spring trip on Monday and Tuesday hosting the SMSU Classic at Wigwam Resort Blue Course.
