SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team returned to action on a chilly Monday shooting a first-round score of 43-over-par 331 and is tied for fourth place at the 10-team at the Augustana Spring Invitational played at Elmwood Golf Course.
The final round begins on Tuesday with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
SMSU is playing its first competitive tournament since playing three events during the month of March in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Augustana is the first-round leader with a 28-over 316 and holds a six-shot lead over Sioux Falls and Concordia-St. Paul. SMSU is in fourth place along with Minot State and South Dakota School of Mines.
Meghan Pundsack shot the Mustangs' lowest round with an 8-over 80, recording a pair of birdies and seven pars to sit in a tie for seventh place in the 70-player field.
Danielle Podoll is in 12
th place after carding a 9-over 81 with eight pars.
Mallory Uselman had one birdie and five pars for a 12-over 84, while
Isabella Jacobs and
Berkley Steffen both shot rounds of 14-over 86. Jacobs had one birdie and five pars, while Steffen had a birdie and six pars.
SMSU had four play as individuals with
Roni Hook and
Ellie Krueger both shooting 23-over 95.
Natalie Appel shot a 24-over 96, while
Allie Nedved closed at 30-over 102.
Three players from Augustana and one from Sioux Falls are tied for the individual lead with a score of 6-over 78.
