SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team carded a final round 51-over-par 339 to finish the Augustana Invitational with a 94-over 670 and finish tied for fifth in the 10-team event played at the par-72 Elmwood Golf Course.
Augustana won the tournament with a 56-over 632, finishing five strokes ahead of Sioux Falls.
Maggie Veenendall from Sioux Falls earned medalist honors with a 7-over 151.
Danielle Podoll tied for 18
th overall to pace the Mustangs at 21-over 165. She carded a 12-over 84 on Tuesday with two birdies and four pars.
Mallory Uselman shot a team-low 10-over 82 in the final round with one birdie and eight pars to finish tied for 20
th at 22-over 166.
Meghan Pundsack, who led SMSU with an 80 on Monday, shot a 15-over 87 on Tuesday with seven pars to tie for 25
th at 23-over 167.
Berkley Steffen had six pars on Tuesday on her way to a 14-over 86 and a tie for 41
st overall at 28-over 172.
Isabella Jacobs finished 43
rd overall at 29-over 173, following a score of 15-over 87 on Tuesday with seven pars.
Four Mustangs played as individuals during the two days with
Natalie Appel shooting a 43-over 187, after shooting a 19-over 91 on Tuesday.
Roni Hook and
Ellie Krueger both shot 22-over 94 on Tuesday and both closed at 45-over 189.
Allie Nedved rounded out play shooting a 24-over 96 and finished at 54-over 198.
SMSU will next be in action to close the season on April 25-27 competing at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship at Paradise Pointe – Outlaw Course in Smithville, Mo.
