Mustang volleyball hosts annual 'Late Show' on Thursday as part of Gold Rush Days

MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball team will host its annual 'Late Show' intrasquad scrimmage this Thursday night inside the PE Gym. The event, which begins at 7 p.m., is free and open to the public.
 
This year's event will once again take place on the first evening of 2025 Gold Rush Days on campus. Students attending have a chance to win prizes and show off their school spirit.
 
The scrimmage is the first chance for the public to get a look at this year's squad.
 
SMSU, under fourth-year head coach Tyler Boddy, opened fall practice on Monday, Aug. 18. The Mustangs return 12 letter winners from its 2024 team that finished 23-6 overall, 14-4 NSIC, and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the second straight season.
 
The 2025 team features three seniors, four juniors, five sophomores, one redshirt freshman and six true freshmen.   
 
SMSU opens the regular season on Sept. 4-6 with four matches at the West Florida Classic in Pensacola, Fla. SMSU begins its 18-match NSIC season on the road on Sept. 19 at Bemidji State. The Mustangs will have their home opener on Sept. 26 versus MSU Moorhead.
