BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State softball player
Emma Humpal was voted Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week for her performances this past week against Minnesota State and Upper Iowa, with an official announcement coming from the league office Tuesday afternoon.
This is Humpal's first Player of the Week award in her career at SMSU.
Humpal, a junior from Omaha, Neb., went 6 of 17 (.352) at the plate last weekend, adding eight RBIs and three extra base hits in four games for the Mustangs, leading the team to a 3-1 record.
In the Mustangs first win over Minnesota State since 2018, Humpal had two hits and two RBIs, scoring one run, and hit her first home run of the season in the second game of the doubleheader against the Mavericks.
In Sunday's doubleheader against Upper Iowa, Humpal earned an RBI single in game one, before adding an RBI double and a solo home run in game two.
SMSU, holding a 5-3 record, hosts Nebraska-Kearney in a doubleheader on Monday, Feb. 23, in Sioux Center, Iowa, with game one beginning at 11 a.m.
