MARSHALL, MINN.: The Southwest Minnesota State softball team dropped its first game on Sunday 3-2 to Winona State in the semifinals of the NSIC Tournament in Marshall.
SMSU took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on RBI doubles by
Amanda Burkhart and
Amanda Tucci.
Winona got one run back in the third on a two-out RBI triple by Mollie Bjelland. The Warriors took a 3-2 lead in the fourth on a two-run double by Terra Halron.
Amanda Johnson suffered the loss, throwing all seven innings, while allowing one earned run with seven strikeouts.
Erin Dickhausen and Burkhart each had three hits.
SMSU plays Mary at 2 p.m. in the double elimination tournament.
