COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.: The Southwest Minnesota State soccer team dropped its season opener on Friday 3-0 to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Freshman goalkeeper Courtney McCarthy had seven saves on the day.  Sophomore Liz Judkins recorded SMSU's only shot on goal.  SMSU was out shot 24-5 and out shot 10-1 on goal.

Jelisa Guy scored UCCS's first and third goals, while Kristin Preble scored the Mountain Lions' second goal.

The Mustangs are back in action on Sunday when they play at 11 a.m. (MST) at Colorado State-Pueblo.
