ST. PAUL, Minn. - Division III Hamline used four singles win and a doubles victory to hand the Southwest Minnesota State tennis team a 5-4 loss Friday afternoon in St. Paul Minnesota.
HU improves to 1-6, while SMSU drops to 1-6 (0-2 NSIC).
In singles play, the Mustangs collected win from
Ananda Ferrari at No. 1, who defeated Kelly Gust 2-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Cailey Grupe also picked up a win at No. 3 singles, defeating Anna Yarbrough 6-2, 6-3.
SMSU's No. 2 doubles duo of
Trisha Baldwin and Grupe was 8-3 winners over Yarbrough and Kelsey Eatherton.
Angie Wiegmann and
Toni Pribyl also picked up a win for SMSU, posting an 8-3 victory over Sara Mitambo and Kristen Kiemele at No. 3 doubles.
The Mustangs return to action on Sunday when they travel to Minnesota State, Mankato for a 9 a.m. conference contest.
