SMSU Women's Golf Finishes Sixth in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -  The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team dropped two spots and finished in sixth place at the eight-team Mustang Desert Classic hosted by Western New Mexico University at Los Altos G.C. in Albuquerque, N.M.

SMSU shot a final round score of 346 to finish with a two-day total of 106-over par 682.  Wayland Baptist won the classic with a team score of 627.

SMSU freshman KC Kane finished in a tie for third place with a 13-over par 157.  Kane carded a round two score of 82,  Charlotte Guilluex of Wayland Baptist won the individual title with a four-under par 140. 

Two other Mustangs finished in the top 30, with senior Abby Oakland tying for 23rd place with a 171, while Steph Bruns finished in 27th place with a 173, including shooting a career-low 84 in today's second round.

Rounding out the SMSU scoring included Melissa Lackas tied for 33rd (176), Sarah Baukol tied for 35th (180) and Rachael Stoebe tied for 38th (182).
