ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State tennis team posted wins in all three doubles matches and in four of six singles matches to hand Northern State a 7-2 conference loss and extend its winning streak to to five on Sunday afternoon in Aberdeen, S.D.
SMSU improves to 6-12 (5-6 NSIC), while NSU drops to 4-12 (2-10 NSIC).
The Mustangs swept the doubles matches to start the day, then collected wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to take control of the match. SMSU's
Cailey Grupe then etched out a tight 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 3 singles, including a 15-13 victory in the tiebreaker set.
The match concluded the NSIC season for the Mustangs. SMSU will play its final regular-season match on Wednesday at 4 p.m. when Sioux Falls (S.D.) comes to Marshall for a non-conference contest.
