ST. JOSEPH, Minn.- Cailey Grupe helped Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team clinch a 5-4 win Sunday over St. Benedict's by winning the super-tiebreaker 10-2 over Alyson Brandell.
Brandell won the first set 6-2, and Grupe came back to win the second set 7-6 (7-4 tiebreaker) as well as the super-tiebreaker.
The Mustangs improve to 7-7 (3-4 NSIC); St. Ben's moves to 6-4.
Murakami earned a win over Katie Rudnitski from the No. 1 spot with a 6-0, 6-2 final. Hildebrandt also defeated Elissa Husby 6-1, 6-1 for the final win for the Mustangs.
SMSU will take part in Northern Sun Intercollegiate competition tomorrow against Minnesota Duluth at 10:30 a.m. in St. Cloud, and return home Monday afternoon for another NSIC match-up against Augustana at 4 p.m. at Legion Field.
