Winona State Edges SMSU in NSIC Finale

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Winona State defeated Southwest Minnesota State 5-4 in both teams' Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular season finales.

Winona State improves to 12-6 (8-2 NSIC); SMSU falls to 9-9 (4-6 NSIC).

SMSU gained two wins in doubles play--the first from Lissa Murakami and Danielle Hildebrandt, who defeated Amanda Asche and Katelyn Dubbelde in an 8-2 decision. Angie Wiegmann and Amy Daniels topped Addison Adler and Laura Roesslein (8-4).

Wiegmann and Trisha Baldwin recorded the only singles wins for SMSU as Wiegmann defeated Katelyn Dubbelde 6-3, 6-4. Baldwin won her match over Addison Adler 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

SMSU will play in the last regular season contest today when they head to Sioux Falls to take on the University of Sioux Falls at 3 p.m.
