SMSU Falls to Colorado-Colorado Springs in Season Opener

MARSHALL, Minn.- Julia Saenz scored a goal and had an assist for Colorado-Colorado Springs in its 2-0 victory over Southwest Minnesota State's soccer team. Saturday night's match was SMSU's season opener.

Josi Talbot scored the first goal for UCCS in the 20th minute with an assists from Kristin Preble and Saenz. The second goal came from Saenz in the 70^th minute with assists from Candice Buckles and Meghan Royer.

Kendra Olchefske led SMSU with 15 saves while Kelly Fitzgerald had five shots including three on goal.

The Mustangs 0-1 and will be in action again on Wednesday, Sept. 15, versus Minot State.
