In Sunday's first game, SMSU snapped a 1-1 tie pushing across three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jennifer Johnson opened the inning with a double and was pinch-ran by Kingery. Following a walk to Amy Dreessen, Borowiak singled to load the bases, before Steen came through with a two-run single to snap the tie and give SMSU a 3-1 lead. Brittney Hallahan then coaxed a bases loaded walk later in the inning to push the margin to 4-1.

Steen finished the game 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Heim allowed just four hits, two walks and one earned run in improving her record to 3-2 on the season.
