MATCH RESULTS

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State tennis team dropped a close dual match 5-4 to the University of Minnesota, Crookston on Friday night at Gold's Gym in St. Cloud, Minn. SMSU won three of six singles matches and one doubles match before falling to 0-10, 0-5 NSIC while UMC improves to 2-6, 1-6 NSIC.

Angie Wiegmann opened singles play with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Katelyn Johnson at No. 1 singles and Katie Kienitz came up with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cassie Jarvis at No. 2 singles. Ashley Plucker picked up SMSU's third singles win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Alyssa Klingenberg at No. 5 singles.

Wiegmann and Kienitz earned SMSU's lone win in doubles play with an 8-5 victory over Katelyn Johnson and Alyssa Klingenberg at No. 1 doubles.

SMSU returns to action today, traveling to Minnetonka, Minn. to take on MSU Moorhead at the Life Time Athletic Oakdale Village Tennis Center at 5 p.m.
