UW-LaCROSSE RESULTS
WINONA, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's tennis team dropped two matches on Saturday at the Winona Tennis Center in Winona, Minn. In its first match of the day, SMSU (0-14, 0-8 NSIC), lost 6-3 to the University of Minnesota Duluth (6-7, 4-4 NSIC) in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action before falling 9-0 to the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse (15-2) in non-conference play.
Angie Wiegamann and
Katie Kienitz picked up a win at No. 1 doubles for the Mustangs earning an 8-6 win over Brittany Thompson and Jessica Stensrud. Wiegmann lost a close match at No. 1 singles falling 6-7 (0-1), 6-2, 1-0 (11-9) to Thompson.
Ashley Plucker dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Kara Saemann at No. 4 singles while Kienitz and
Allison Niedert lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and 3 singles.
SMSU's
Yome Nguyen earned a win by default at No. 6 singles. Nguyen and Plucker also won at No. 3 doubles by default.
UW-LaCrosse won all three doubles matches and all six singles matches on its way to victory.
SMSU returns to action tomorrow morning taking on Winona State beginning at 9 a.m. at the Winona Tennis Center.
