MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University tennis team is set to open the 2013 season this Saturday with a match versus Macalester College starting at 2:30 p.m.
The SMSU tennis team will have a new look for the 2013 season with just two returning player from its 2012 roster and just one upperclassmen. Sophomore
Katie Kienitz returns after earning four victories last season at No. 2 singles and five victories at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore
Allison Niedert also returns after playing last season at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.
Charlie Kost, entering his third season as head coach, has added six freshmen and one junior to this year's squad to round out the nine-member team.
Southwest Minnesota State finished the 2012 season with a record of 0-16, including 0-10 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
