The Southwest Minnesota State softball team will continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action this weekend,April 1-2, with a doubleheader at the University of Mary and Minot State University in Bismarck, N.D. The Mustangs (8-6) are coming off a split of a doubleheader with the University of Sioux Falls.
SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF MARY
The University of Mary is 11-8 to start the season, 0-2 to start the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule. UMary is hitting .294 as a unit and are led by Demaree Rodriquez who is hitting .373 with 19 hits in 51 at-bats. Cherlyn Trujillo, who has pitched eight complete games, is 7-3 on the season in her nine starts. Trujillo has struck out 70 batters, allowed 15 earned runs in 62.0 innings pitched.
SCOUTING MINOT STATE UNIVERSITY
Minot State has been on a tear so far this season, building a 20-1 overall record and a 2-0 record to start the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. J. Dixon has gotten off to an unheard of start to her season, collecting 40 hits in 68 at-bats with seven home runs, six triples, nine double and 29 RBI. Dixon owns a slash line of .588/.628/1.206 in her 21 starts. The Beavers also have a dominant pitcher in M Greenberg. Greenberg is 10-0, pitching five complete games. Greenberg owns a miniscule ERA of .47, allowing just four earned runs in 59.2 innings to go along with her 108 strikeouts.
