FIRST PITCH
The Southwest Minnesota State softball team will travel to Kissimmee, Fla., to begin its 12-game spring trip at the Rebel Spring Games from March 9-15. SMSU opened the season last Wednesday, Feb. 27, with two losses to Minnesota Duluth following the cancelation of the six-game Central Oklahoma Classic.

SCOUTING OPPONENTS
Southwest Minnesota State will play a 12-game schedule at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla., from March 9-15 and will play opponents from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the East Coast Conference.

THE COACH
Missy Bruggeman enters her second season as head coach of the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs and owns a career record of 21-23. Bruggeman completed her first season as a collegiate head coach at SMSU in 2012 with a 21-21 overall record, just missing the postseason. The first-year skipper led the Mustangs to two victories over ranked opponents early in the season. Before coming to SMSU, Bruggeman spent two seasons as an assistant head coach at St. Thomas University after a four-year standout career with the Tommies.
